About the Author

Glenn Whitfield, CPIM

I have 25 years experience in management and helping organizations solve business problems through the use of various Performance Improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and the Theory of Constraints.  I am Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), a Six Sigma Black Belt and Lean manufacturing leader.

I’m currently at Humana, Inc, and the views and opinions on this site are mine and not related to Humana or any former company.   Previously, I was at Centric Conusulting, LLC, helping clients increase value and improve operations. Prior to this, I was heading up Process & Strategy Design at Signature HealthCARE.  I led the Process Improvement Services group at Dean Dorton Allen Ford, and before that was Director of Business Integration at New Age Technologies, where I worked with clients on IT Business Alignment strategies and tactics by identifying and improving business and IT processes to make sure Technology is adding value to the process and obtaining a solid ROI.

As a Lean Sigma Master Black Belt at Jewish Hospital and St. Mary’s HealthCare I led Value Stream Analysis and Rapid Improvement Events in several areas, including Revenue Cycle, Home Health, IT, and Core Measures.  In leading these events, I enabled the organization to eliminate waste, improve efficiencies, and enhance revenue.

I spent 14 years at Ford Motor Company where I held a variety of leadership positions in operations management, finance, engineering, and maintenance.

I have a Bachelor and Masters Degree from the Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville.  I also serve on the Industrial Engineering Advisory Board at U of L, and recently was a member of GLI’s Technology Board of Directors.
